Geraldy Miranda Diaz, better known as Gera Akaté, exploded on to Puerto Rico’s underground electronic music scene in 2011 and has since carved deeply into the island’s audience with seeming success. As an early musician influenced by the saxophone she has acquired an aggressive yet beautiful approach to the sounds of techno. Her uncanny charisma alongside her versatile and skillful sets reflect strongly on the dance floor. Multiple residencies for this young star have quickly built her into solid support sets for renowned artist like JPhlip, Kidnap Kid, Sasha, Lee Foss and Claude Von Stroke, at important venues like Verboten NY, Groove Fest DR and EDC Puerto Rico. Her production work includes a co- production and vocal feature with Z Boys & Flavio Acaron titled “In Da Hood” for Atapy’s label Cimelde, an EP named “White Marshmallows” co-produced with Christopher Alexander for Emiliano Martini’s label Proper Slap Limited. Currently working on original tracks and spreading a nostalgic but deep-tech influence in her performances, Gera Akaté promises to soon be conquering the heart of techno audiences all over the world.
